Almost all moved in...

Moving is not my favorite thing. I love the idea of being able to have a new place and decorate it however I want, but having to move all of our stuff is definitely the downside of things. :) Things went pretty smoothly and there was no snow! We had tons of help from our ward and are so grateful for them, my Uncle Coray and my in-laws. We have almost everything set up but there are still some things left over at the old apartment. I think that we will be living out of both places until after Christmas. My friend, Mimi, from Mexico is coming tonight and will be here for a week. It has been stressful trying to figure out what we were going to do about sleeping arrangements since we're going to Evanston this year but things have worked out and I owe my mother-in-law big time (she is too good to me).

Pray for good weather:)

We closed on the house this last Wednesday and are so happy to be able to have a home and start a new phase of our life together. We have been packing like mad for that last couple of days but looking outside is making me a little uneasy. Right now it is a complete blizzard! They are probably going to close down the point of the mountain it is soooo bad! I am grateful that we are only moving about a mile away, but please pray that the snow will let up tomorrow so that we can move everything without getting it soaking wet and freezing our butts off at the same time:) We love you and after Monday, everyone is invited to come and see our new place!

Christmas Tag ( I stole it from Paula:)

1.CANDY CANES--PEPPERMINT OR CHERRY?
Cherry all the way! The peppermint is way too strong.

2.GINGERBREAD HOUSES--KIT OR HOMEMADE?
Kit, since I don't know how to make gingerbread.

3.MOST ANNOYING CHRISTMAS SONG?
"Mary did you know, that your baby boy" it drives me up the wall.

4.FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG
Christmas Song, by Nat King Cole and no one else!!!!

5.MOST MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS PRESENT YOU RECEIVED AS A CHILD
One year we had finished opening up our presents and thought we were all threw, but then my dad walked behind the couch to go into the kitchen. He discovered a box of the coolest stamps I had seen in my life. We asked who they were for and my mom couldn't remember so she sat for a minute and thought. After what seemed like forever, she asked me if I liked them and then asked my dad if he thought Briana would like them.... I was heart broken. Then my dad piped up with, "Well, Briana would like them but Jamie would like them more. Maybe they can share." Whahoo! I was so excited, even though I had to share, to find a hidden present! Thanks Brooke for not being interested in them at all:)
Also, the christmases on mission were the best! I wish I could have had more of them.

6. MOST MATERIALISTIC THING YOU'RE ASKING SANTA FOR THIS YEAR
Money for children's books and a house... HA

7. FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE
Elf and Home Alone

8. CHRISTMAS MUSIC--DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN OR DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING?
Right after Halloween baby!!!!!! Adam is a staunch supporter of after thanksgiving.

9. DO YOU BELIEVE?
I did. One year I devised a plan to hide between the Christmas tree and the couch. I had it all planned. I would ask my mom for something in her room and then when she was back there I would yell and say, "Nevermind. I'm going to bed." All the while I would be shutting the downstairs door and running to my hiding place. Needless to say, my mom found me a few minutes later and asked me what I was doing. Very embarresing but funny.

10. GET DRESSED BEFORE OPENING YOUR PRESENTS, OR STAY IN PJ'S?
Stay in PJ's but do my hair and makeup so I like the pictures:)

11. BLACK FRIDAY?
My favorite time of year! I've gone every year since my mission. Brooke and I have figured out a system. I go and stand in line while she gets the things. When I finally have kids, I will get her kids stuff from the previous year for free and still stand in line so that we all benefit! I'll let you all know if the system keeps working. LOL

12. WHITE LIGHTS OR COLORED?
Both... I can't decide.

13. EVER BEEN TO THE NUTCRACKER?
No, unless you count local productions.

14. DOES SANTA LEAVE AN ORANGE IN THE TOE OF YOUR STOCKING?
Every Year! This last Christmas Adam thought I was so wierd, but he'll learn to love it!

The Age of Innocence...

Here is a funny exert from a conversation that I had with one of my students this week. As background, this is a 13 year old, hispanic male and we're studying about the revolution in history class.

Student: Why did the americans fight?
Me: To win freedom.
Student: If they won freedom why do we have so many rules? Why can't we just do whatever we want?
Me: Well, because freedom isn't just being able to do what you want. It's being able to have the freedom to choose what you want to do.
Student: Well that isn't fair. We aren't really free.
Me: Then you can go live somewhere else if you don't like it here.
Student: No. You can go live somewhere else because now that Obama is President he's going to deport you all.
Me: What?
Student: Yeah, instead of us getting deported, you all will be deported.
Me: That's not going to happen because the President can't do that.
Student: Yeah it will. Why do you think so many people voted for him. He's black so he'll kick out the white people.
Me: One day you'll learn.

Hope you enjoyed this exert from my day:) And just to clarify, this is not a political attack. It is just a funny conversation I had with a 13 year old.

Happy Birthday Banana Boat!

Today would be Briana's 24th birthday. We had the usual grilled cheese sandwich, french fries and chocolate milk. Oh how I miss my little family... one day we'll all be together again and I can't wait for that day! We had so much fun together and Briana made our days that much better. I'm grateful that I had Bri for 16 years and that we'll also be together for eternity. Here are some of my memories of her:
"What name?"
Writing on the back seat of the Durango
Mimicking Tickle me Elmo
Taking your spot as soon as you stood up
Calling chancey over to her
Seeing her underneath her blanket, like a teepee, every morning
Being so excited for school
Cutting our coupons!
Making her own recipes
Nawing on the cheese
Eating a stick of butter
Letting me paint her nails
Watching Barney a trillion times
Taking her to soccer games at the high school so I would have someone to sit with:)
Having one weekend night with her for the last year of her life.
Being able to feel the Spirit whenever she was close
Singing primary songs
Say party.... "party" on.... "on dude".
There are many more but I must get to bed. I want to invite other people to leave their memories as well! I'm so excited to read them.
